Who doesn't love a good old fashioned road trip? Or getting in your vehicle to go to that way out place? It's a classic! And, we are usually ready with all our gear when we head out the door. Most of us use our vehicles on a daily basis, but how many of us pack essential items for these daily trips?

Of course we never expect anything to happen on the way to the grocery store or to work. Most close commutes are 30 minutes or less. I hope you never have to use it, but you will never lament that you had the right tools when you needed them.

At minimum you should have the following:

  1. Jumper Cables
  2. Flashlight with extra batteries
  3. Basic First Aid Kit
  4. Ice Scraper
  5. Folding Shovel
  6. Cell Phone Charger (for each brand of cell phone you have)
  7. Reflective Roadside Triangle or Cone
  8. Flares
  9. Reflective Vest

The above basic kit is a great start! To really round your kit out, adding a few more items will really help you be prepared.

  1. Tow Strap
  2. Fire Extinguisher
  3. Rain Poncho
  4. Foam Tire Sealant
  5. Jack and Lug Wrench
  6. Tire Gage
  7. Gloves
  8. Blanket
  9. Rags

We have a great kit to get you started, click here and here! Remember to always watch your fuel levels, pay attention to basic maintenance, and check your tire pressure on a regular basis. A little preparation will go a long way in the event of an emergency.

Happy trails!
